When booking flights I always like to look on Google Flights first. This is not only to see the current prices of tickets, but to see what airlines go to my desired destinations, Next, I go directly to the carriers that have flights available and search award travel and jot down dollar value and points cost. Last I go to the credit card company such as AMEX Travel and Chase travel to see what the points and cost flights are. Doing a comparison of these costs will allow you to make the most educated decision on where to use your points.
MATH – Do your math, create your charts, and find the best dollar per mile
- Chase will do a redemption on travel for $0.015 per mile – For example $1000 is around 67,0000 points (if you spend $1,000 on airfare you can redeem it for around 67,000 points)
- Some credit card companies offer additional mileage for trips booked with them directly (Book $1,000) we will give you 5x miles ( 5,000 points is worth around $75 )
Math problem of the day.. Do you book a trip for $2400 or pay 120,000 Chase Points? What’s the better deal and why?
